President’s Message:
This year marks another significant milestone in our club’s illustrious history, the observance of our 90th anniversary!
The Rotary Club of Grand Junction was chartered in September of 1919 and has been serving humanity on the Western Slope of Colorado and around the world ever since. Today, we continue to draw upon the vision and commitment of our charter members … and all those who have held membership in this club.
The theme for Rotary International this year is: “The future of Rotary is in your hands.” These inspiring words remind us of our individual and collective capacity for contribution. In that spirit, I suggest the following as the motto for our club year: “Helping hands for humanity.”
In addition to serving the needs our local community, we will help support such worthy efforts as the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, The Rotary Foundation as well as doing our part to assist in helping to address the ongoing worldwide concerns of water, health, hunger and literacy.
As we observe 90 years as a member of the Rotary International family, we are always striving to renew ourselves. Our recent efforts to develop our Strategic Plan, Vision Statement and the implementation of our Club Leadership Plan are examples of this and help to position us for the challenges ahead.
While we pause to remember those who came before us, and honor their accomplishments, we know the future holds even greater possibilities. After all, it’s in our hands!
Yours in Rotary,
Joe
